CHAPTER 13. STREETS AND SIDEWALKSCHAPTER 13. STREETS AND SIDEWALKS\Article 2. Streets, Alleys and Sidewalks Generally

It shall be unlawful for any person to throw, place, deposit or leave or cause to be thrown, placed, deposited or left, in any of the public streets, highways, alleys, parks or thoroughfares of the City of Cottonwood Falls, Kansas, any dirt, filth, sewage, sweepings, dung, excrement, manure, boxes, ashes lumber, coal, wood, kindling, grass, weeds, vegetables, slops, litter of any kind, oil, waste oil, or waste of any kind.

No person, firm, partnership, limited liability company or corporation shall remove or obstruct any city sidewalk without the prior approval of the Governing Body of the City of Cottonwood Falls, Kansas.

It is the duty of the owner and of the occupant of any lots abutting upon any sidewalks to cause to be removed from such sidewalk s all snow and ice within five hours from the time that said snow has fallen or ice has accumulated: provided, that if the snow falls or ice accumulates upon the sidewalks in the night time, removal of same must be made within five hours after sunrise on the following day.

If any owner or occupant of any lot or lots shall refuse or neglect to clear or remove from the sidewalk abutting said lot or lots, all snow and ice within the time specified, the city may cause such snow and ice to be removed from sidewalks and the cost thereof shall be assessed against such abutting lot or lots and such costs shall be collected in the same manner as is required for the building of sidewalks.

Any person or persons violating any of the provisions hereof, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction, thereof, shall be punished by a fine of not less than five dollars ($5.00) nor more than one hundred dollars ($500.00).
